Summer of Salvage

Since returning from our 6,000 mile epic adventure there has been no stopping Rusty Romance!

Our buying trip resulted in a treasure trove of lovely old pieces. Some antique, some vintage, salvaged shabby chic and many great rusty treasures!

The creative juices have been flowing and I have a number of “Before and Afters” to share with you all. There are so many, in fact, I am not sure where to start.

Let’s begin with my latest story of vintage rescue…

This charming solid wood, 2 drawer side table was less than charming when I found it. It was a real mess and my friend encouraged me to leave this where I found it. I love a challenge and it screamed potential to me!

I took this piece all the way down to the bare wood to remove the many deep scratches. I had a plan for this piece from the beginning and it came together quickly. It seems like the good ones usually do.

It took 4 coats of a pale French Cream Satin Paint. I then hand painted a floral design using a beige linen color. I was able to finish it with 2 of the antique distressed pulls I have been hoarding.

The pulls came off of a very old dresser, they are ornate, distressed and a pale turquoise color. I love the subtle pop of color!

I love the way it turned out and I am sure it will sell quickly! On to the next project…..
