Welcome to the month of November! I adore the Fall, the crisp air and the fact that I get to wear leggings, cozy sweaters, knee length boots and scarves, oh so many scarves! This fashionable and trendy attire will assist me in hiding the 5 to 8 pounds that the Holidays always bring with them.

As Thanksgiving approaches I always try to add extra focus on the many things I have to be thankful for. I want to share those things with you this year! So, in November I will be posting some of my favorite recipes, stories and photos.

To kick off that 5 to 8 (Oh, who am I kidding …10, it will be 10!) pounds I will be gaining, here is one of my favorite Fall kick off recipes!

“THE BEST Hot Chocolate Mix ….EVER!”

It is “THE BEST “ for a few reasons:

1) It is YUMMY!

2) It is SUPER easy and FAST!

3) It is economical and lasts indefinitely!

4) It comes with a story! (WARNING…ALL of my recipes are going to come with a story. Thanks for bearing with me.)

First….The history behind “THE BEST Hot Chocolate Mix…EVER!”

One of my biggest blessings is the fact that I had the honor of being raised by my Grandmother. As a child we were very poor and things were tough. I remember being 4 years old and going with Grandma to pick up our weekly “Commodities”. Commodities were a Government Food Distribution program in the late 1960’s that aided in improving the nutritional status of low-income people. It wasn’t Food Stamps or EBT. You couldn’t go to the store and choose what you wanted. Oh no, you stood in line and received whatever they had a surplus of for the week. Usually only the basic staples were available. I remember there was boxed cheese that barely melted …even on the stove! There were boxed crackers, canned fruits and a number of dry ingredients.

There was Powdered Creamer, Powdered Sugar, Flour, Chocolate Powder, Dry Pinto Beans and Bottled Dry Meat. There was ALWAYS Powdered Milk! My Grandmother, a woman born in 1919 had lived thru the Great Depression and she KNEW the meaning of the word THRIFTY, she also knew the true meaning of the word CREATIVITY! She did some really creative things with what we had on hand and this Recipe is one of her FINEST CREATIONS!

This is where you can make it just the way you like it! I have found that 4recipe blog 3 to 5 teaspoons in a mug is the right amount. Then add boiling water, yep it is just that EASY! It is creamy and just the right amount of chocolate! It’s better than any boxed instant
cocoa mix I have ever had. Store in an airtight container and it will keep forever!

You can be creative and add a flavored creamer instead of plain such as Mint, French Vanilla or Hazelnut! You can also use sugar free cocoa powder to help shave off some of those unwanted calories.

I hope you enjoy this Recipe and I hope it adds a little warmth and sweetness to your Fall!

Best Wishes,
